What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is an art and science that has been used for thousands of years to relieve pain and treat diseases.
By inserting hair-thin sterile needles into specific points on the body, we can promote circulation of blood flow and nutrients, and trigger the body's natural immune response. The strategically placed needles will also tap into the pain perception mechanism and release pain relieving hormones, reduce inflammation, and tap into the parasympathetic nervous system, which promotes the rest and digest mechanism. With our hectic modern lives, most of us are chronically in a state of stress and anxiety, which triggers the sympathetic (fight or flight) mechanism, leading to high levels of cortisol in the body, and creating heart disease, increased midsection fat, inflammation and chronic digestive issues.
How can it Help me?
During an acupuncture treatment, you will feel a deep relaxation while your body's immune systems awakens with the increased blood circulation, and begins to mobilize the troops to eradicate the offending issue or repair the damaged tissue.
Patients typically leave the session feeling calm, relaxed, and with renewed energy, while the body continues the work it began on the treatment table to heal itself.
